Good morning,

Hope you had a great holiday week. Before we get into the news, a quick note. We have new small cap stock alerts coming soon, so keep an eye on your inbox.

Now let’s look at what happened in the market this week and what to watch next.

Market Recap

Markets were quieter this week as the holiday period set in. Trading volumes were lighter, but stocks generally held their ground after recent gains.

The major indexes finished the week steady. Investors continued to focus on interest rates and inflation trends rather than day to day headlines. With fewer economic releases, markets spent most of the week consolidating recent moves.

Interest rate expectations remained supportive. Inflation data released earlier this month showed continued easing, and investors remain confident that the Federal Reserve is moving closer to a more flexible policy stance in the months ahead.

Consumer activity stayed in focus as holiday shopping wrapped up. Early reports suggest spending held up reasonably well, especially online. That helped support sentiment around the health of the consumer heading into year end.

Small cap stocks had a positive week. The Russell 2000 held firm and continued to trade near recent highs. This is a constructive sign, as smaller companies often benefit when interest rate pressure eases and investors begin looking beyond the largest names.

Overall, the market tone remained calm and constructive as investors used the holiday week to digest recent gains.

What’s Coming Next Week

Next week marks the final trading days of the year.

Economic data will be limited, but investors will continue watching interest rates and bond yields for direction. With fewer scheduled reports, markets may remain range bound.

Attention will also turn toward positioning for the new year. Many investors begin looking ahead to themes that could drive the next leg of the market in January.

Any updates on consumer spending or inflation expectations could still move markets, even during a lighter trading period.
